Electronic Poker is a popular game that is able to be gambled on in casinos across the world, or alternatively at home on your computer, through a web connection. The regulations are very simple and consist of the player attempting to achieve the best combination of cards as you can in order to come away with cash. In this respect it is much the same as a normal game of poker, without the interaction with competing players. Of course, tactics employed during a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Video Poker begins when the gambler puts credits (whether it’s tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and presses the deal button. A 5 card hand will then be electronically ‘given out’ on the screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and players will need to now choose which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.
After the gambler has chosen which cards he or she would like to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards will be dealt if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.
Generally, the lowest succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the payment schedule can change from machine to machine, so that skillful bettors are agile enough to choose the most profitable ones each and every time.
After the first round has played out, the player can either decide to continue on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that they may have won. Further, some versions of the game allow the enthusiast an opportunity to double their winnings, in which situation another game is played. There are also variations between specific games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing elements to increase playability.
