Electronic Poker is a favored game that is able to be played in casinos around the world, or alternatively at home on your computer, through an Internet account. The game rules are very straightforward and involve the player attempting to achieve the greatest mixture of cards as you can in order to acquire cash. In this respect it is very similar as a classic game of poker, apart from the interaction with competing players. Of course, methods employed during a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless here.
The game of Video Poker starts when the player puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A 5 card hand will then be "given out" on the screen.
The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and bettors should now choose which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the player has chosen which cards he wishes to keep, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards are needed they will be handed out. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.
Generally, the minimum succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payment schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that skillful gamblers are able to choose the most profitable machine every instance.
Once the initial round has played out, the player can either decide to stay on and try to to maximize their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Additionally, a few versions of the game allow the gambler a chance to increase their profits, in which instance a further game is played. There are also variations among individual machines, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other varying characteristics to increase playability.
