Video Poker is a popular game that usually will be enjoyed in casinos across the globe, or in your house on your home computer, through a net connection. The rules are very simple and involve the player attempting to achieve the highest combination of cards as you can in order to acquire cash. On this account it is much the same as a normal game of poker, minus the involvement with any other players. Of course, methods employed during a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Video Poker begins when the player puts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A five card hand will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and enthusiasts should now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the player wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the gambler has decided on which cards he or she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards are dealt if desired. The round is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.
Normally, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payment schedule can change from game to game, so that discerning players are agile enough to select the most money-making game each and every instance.
After the initial round has finished, the player can either choose to remain on and try to to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that have been won. Additionally, some versions of the game give the gambler an opportunity to increase their wins, in which situation another hand is played. There are also differences among individual games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing elements to increase playability.
