Video Poker is a popular game that can be gambled on in casinos across the world, or in your house on your personal computer, using a net account. The game rules are absolutely simple and involve the player attempting to achieve the best combination of cards possible in order to acquire money. In this respect it’s much the same as a regular game of poker, without the interaction with any other players. Of course, tactics employed during a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Electronic Poker starts when the player inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the play button. A five card hand will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.
The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and bettors will need to now choose which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the player would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.
After the gambler has chosen which cards she would like to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards will be needed they will be dealt. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.
Generally, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can change from machine to machine, so that skillful players are agile enough to choose the most beneficial game each instance.
Once the first round has finished, the player can either decide to remain on and try to to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that they may have won. Additionally, several versions of the game give the player a chance to double their wins, in which case another round is played. There are also differences among specific games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
