Video Poker is a favored game that can be wagered on in casinos around the world, or alternatively at home on your computer, using a web account. The rules are very simple and involve the player attempting to get the highest mixture of cards as you can in order to win cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a normal game of poker, without the line of contact with competing players. Of course, tactics employed during a physical game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Video Poker begins when the player inserts credits (whether it is tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the play button. A hand of five cards will be "handed out" on the video screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and enthusiasts will need to now decide which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the gambler wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the bettor has selected which cards she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any fresh cards will be needed they will be dealt. The round is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payout schedule.
Typically, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can change from game to game, so that discerning gamblers are agile enough to pick the most profitable ones each instance.
Once the initial round has completed, the player can either decide to continue on and try to to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that might been won. Further, some versions of the game allow the enthusiast a chance to increase their winnings, in which instance another round is played. There are also differences among specific games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying characteristics to increase playability.
