General Jacks or Greater Video Poker Strategy
May 9th, 2010 by Giuliana

Video Poker is really a game of skill – and using the straightforward combination of betting system and mathematical understanding, can be beat. Take note of the "pay out schedule" shown on the front of each device, and look particularly at the most critical details – how much the device will pay for a Full-House versus a Flush.

An sophisticated video poker player will also realise that a "Jacks-or-Better" machine – classed as a 9/6 device for paying out nine coins: one for just about every Full House and 6: 1 for every single Flush, could be beaten using excellent Basic Video-Poker Technique. One more machine offering the advanced video-poker gambler an edge is the ten/six Deuces Wild machine. These odds have been confirmed as a result of pc modelling. For the other video poker machines – even if a gambler plays the Best Electronic Poker Technique game, he will still not win, though will have fun playing!

You will find set rules defining Basic Video-Poker Method whether betting online or in a casino – very much like the Basic Strategy for Chemin de fer,

Jacks-or-Better Video Poker Technique

  • In any hand holding a Jack, unless of course the hand is already a winner! – 4 to an open-ended Straight, 4 into a Flush or 3 with a Straight Flush or Royal Flush – refuse all cards only keeping the Jack
  • In any hand with only 1 card Jack or better, retain the single great card and refuse all other cards and redraw.
  • In any hand holding 1 pair less than than Jacks, preserve the pair and reject all other cards – unless of course the hand is 4 with a Straight or four to a Flush
  • In any hand holding a two-pair, keep both pair and refuse the odd-card.
  • In any hand holding 3-of-a-kind keep the 3-of-a-kind and reject the other 2 cards.
  • In any hand with 4 with a Straight, keep all 4 Straight cards and re-draw – unless of course the Straight draw isn’t open-ended and the hand is having a Jack)
  • In any hand having 4 to a Flush, maintain the four Flush – unless of course the hand holds three to the Royal in which case you would draw to the Royal Flush
  • In any hand with four-of-a-kind, hold everything since a one-card draw will not increase the cards.
  • In any hand with three to a Royal Flush, refuse almost everything else and go for that Royal – unless the hand is already a Sraight Flush!

Practice these techniques whist wagering – perhaps even use to refer to the Basic Electronic Poker methods until they become second nature. Go on …receive the skill and hit those machines!
